Swatch Unveils MOONSWATCH New Moon and Full Moon, A Bioceramic Tribute to Lunar Exploration
The MOONSWATCH collection is a collaboration between Swatch and OMEGA, paying tribute to OMEGA's iconic Speedmaster Moonwatch. It consists of two new bioceramic watch models celebrating the moon - "FULL MOON" and "NEW MOON".

Swiss watchmaker Swatch has released the MOONSWATCH, a new collection developed in collaboration with luxury brand OMEGA. The two bioceramic models pay homage to OMEGA's legendary Speedmaster Moonwatch, the first watch worn on the lunar surface during the NASA Apollo missions.
The MOONSWATCH "FULL MOON" and "NEW MOON" editions incorporate several recognizable Speedmaster design cues. This includes the watch's asymmetrical case shape, the tachymeter-scaled bezel with the iconic dot over 90, and the tri-subdial layout on the dial.
The "FULL MOON" model features an all-white case and bezel complemented by a white VELCRO strap, while the "NEW MOON" has an all-black design accented by a black VELCRO band. Luminescent Grade A Super-LumiNova coats the hands, indices and chronograph seconds hand for legibility.
Other details pulled from the Speedmaster lineage include a box-shaped crystal made from biosourced glass, the iconic Swatch "S" emblem embedded in the crystal, and a circular pattern along the outer dial ring. The MOONSWATCH watches are marked with co-branding from both OMEGA and Swatch.
A key new feature is the incorporation of a moon phase complication, a first for any Swatch chronograph model. The rotating moon phase disc set at 2 o'clock depicts a crescent moon, with the Peanuts character Snoopy sleeping on top. Snoopy has served as NASA's official safety mascot since the 1960s Apollo era.
Under UV lighting, the "NEW MOON" subdial reveals a hidden quote from the classic Peanuts comic strip amidst a starry design, adding an easter egg element for collectors.
Both MOONSWATCH versions utilize Swatch's proprietary Bioceramic material for the case, bezel, crown and pushers. Bioceramic blends two-thirds high-quality ceramic with one-third plant-based plastic resin derived from castor oil. This results in a distinctly smooth matte finish while maintaining rugged durability.
With the MOONSWATCH collection, Swatch has brought its signature affordable yet innovative approach to celebrate one of watchmaking's most seminal timepieces. The bioceramic construction and incorporation of the moon phase add a fresh cosmic twist.
