Seiko has unveiled its latest innovative timepiece - the Astron GPS Solar Dual-Time Chronograph. This new watch represents several groundbreaking firsts for the renowned Astron GPS Solar line.
The highlight is the new Caliber 5X83 movement, which combines Seiko's GPS timekeeping technology with a dual-time display and a chronograph function for the first time. This allows the watch to not only receive time signals from GPS to set the precise time anywhere in the world, but also track a second time zone simultaneously while functioning as a 1/20th second chronograph.
All the new Caliber 5X83 watches boast an impressive list of timekeeping technologies. This includes automatic GPS time sync up to twice per day, a perpetual calendar to 2100, DST adjustment, and an accuracy of +/-15 seconds per month when disengaged from GPS. Other features like in-flight mode and a power reserve indicator add to the practicality.
The Kintaro Hattori Limited Edition of 1,000 pieces will be available in June 2024, followed by the three collection models in July through select Seiko retailers worldwide. Pricing starts at €2,600 for the collection pieces, with the limited edition selling for €4,000.
With its combination of satellite timekeeping, dual-time display, chronograph capabilities and aviation-inspired design, Seiko's new Astron GPS Solar makes a compelling showcase of the brand's technical prowess in premium sport watches.

The commemorative limited edition model, named the Kintaro Hattori Limited Edition, celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Seiko brand name. It features design elements meant to evoke the view of the Earth from space, with an all-black case and bracelet, sunray-patterned dial, and yellow gold-colored accents. The bezel has a two-piece ceramic and titanium construction.
In addition to the limited edition, three new sporty chronograph models are joining the main Astron collection, powered by the same Caliber 5X83 movement. They feature contrasting colors, textures, and materials like ceramic bezels and titanium cases for a bold, athletic look.
