Swiss luxury watchmaker Baume & Mercier has unveiled the Riviera Maréographe as the latest addition to its ocean-inspired Riviera collection. The new limited edition model incorporates a tidal measurement complication along with design cues reminiscent of the brand's maritime heritage.

Driving the tide function and main timekeeping duties is a self-winding in-house movement made by Baume & Mercier. The Baumatic caliber offers a modern 4Hz frequency and an overachieving 5-day/120-hour power reserve. It is antimagnetic and visible through a case back engraved with the limited edition numbering.

The movement features haute horology finishes like circular grained bridges and an openworked oscillating weight with Geneva striping. It provides a water resistance rating of 100 meters.

The Riviera Maréographe comes equipped with a blue rubber strap integrated into the case design. It has a canvas pattern meant to evoke the look of sea waves. A triple folding buckle with push-button release secures the strap.

Limited to just 500 pieces, the Riviera Maréographe features Baume & Mercier's iconic dodecagonal case shape measuring 42mm in diameter. The stainless steel case has a blend of polished and satin-brushed finishes and is topped by a sapphire crystal.

The sun-brushed blue dial takes its color scheme from the ocean, complemented by rhodium-plated indices and hands treated with luminescent coatings for nighttime visibility. At 6 o'clock sits a snailed and sandblasted blue subdial that tracks the high and low tides.

This tidal complication provides precision measurements related to the natural ebb and flow of the ocean's currents. It's a nod to Baume & Mercier's connection to sailing and seafaring life, especially in the coastal French Riviera region that inspired the collection's aesthetic.

With the Maréographe, Baume & Mercier has created a seafaring timepiece that combines the classic Riviera collection's aquatic design language with practical complications related to marine activities and timekeeping needs.
